The pilot project funded by the Palatine organisation, University of Leeds (Bretton Hall Campus), and Bedford Interactive is now complete and resides in an acclaimed demonstration disc. This disc is based on the processes involved in the creation of 'Spaceometry', a level 3 project dance by student Carly Annable. Inspired by modern sculpture this dance was influenced by the work of choreographers such as Forsythe, Brown and Butcher.
This resource involves a new style
of presentation for B.I., aimed at stimulating and aiding choreographic work
in similar institutions throughout dance education.
Though limited as a demo must be, the disc shows a significant part of the
factors involved in student dance composition, which will be added to substantially
in the products of the complete project. In this, several
discs will be created based on different student works.
In the meantime, feedback from other workers in the field will be elicited
by distribution of the demo,
to refine and develop this approach.
The result will not be formulaic, but exemplary and
stimulating resources which we
hope will generate many other such material from a wide range of institutions.
