VIEWING & DOING
This mode aims to develop appreciation of Wild Child through directed viewing and doing activities. It involves practical work in the form of related dance compostion, performance and appreciation tasks for teachers to deliver, and for students to use on their own.
The tasks are presented as worksheets which focus on five topics – themes, dance content, dance form, music and sound, & costume and set.
An example task for each topic on the performance disc demonstrates how the full range of tasks in the Resource Book deepens the viewing of the work.
The CREATIVE DANCEWORK Disc.
An unsurpassed, flexible, comprehensive and very ‘user friendly’ multimedia resource extends and enriches dance education. Selected excerpts from Wild Child provide the bases for further study and more practical creative Dancework. Students will have the opportuntiy to:
Gain deeper understanding of the choreography of the work to inform their compositions.
Appreciate the qualities in the performance of the dancers, and improve their own performance skills.
Learn and perform parts of Wild Child
Develop an understanding of, and ability to, safely perform some contact improvistaion technique for use in their own compositions.
The RESOURCE Book
This book not only helps teachers and students to get the most from the Wild Child discs, but also offers many practical composition, performance and appreciation tasks to consolidate and extend their understanding through guided viewing of Wild Child. The relationship with the discs is innovative and unique.
The FULL SCORE AUDIO Disc
This disc contains the Full Score of Wild Child by James Mackie in standard CD audio format. This means you can listen to the score on any CD player – however it can also be played on a CDi player, and on any PC with CD-ROM.
Wild
Child is
available on either CD-ROM for PC
or CD-i.
If you already have a fast computer (Pentium 3 or faster) then opt for the
CD-ROM pack, if
you would prefer not to use a PC or think your PC may be too slow, the CD-i
would be better, though
you will need to purchase a Philips CD-i player. These are relatively cheap
and
very portable.
